Chairs or Stools?
You have to decide what will be suitable for your kitchen. Both the types have their own pros and cons. Armless and backless stools take less space than chairs. So, if you have a large family, you can go for stools. Stools are light and therefore, it is easy to move them. They can be placed under the island’s overhang too.On the other hand, chairs are heavier but they are far more comfortable than stools. They are more stable to. So, you had better choose them if you use your kitchen island as the primary eating location. However, if it is used as only an eat-and-run point, stools will be a better option.
Choosing by Height & Space
The height of the seating should be chosen accurately. Measure the height of your table and keep in mind that the space between the seat and the counter should be between 9” and 13”. So, choose the height accordingly. Plus, determine how many stools or chairs you can fit in the space available for seating. Enough space should be kept between each seat, so that people do not bump elbows with each other.

What Type of Material is Best?
The materials used in your seating option are also important to consider. Chairs and stools are made of different materials – wood, metal, plastic, and even bamboo. Metal and plastic-made seating is easy to clean while bamboo and wood-made one brings a natural touch to the kitchen. The cost also varies depending on the materials used. What’s your Kitchen Design Style?
Kitchen island seating should be chosen depending on the architectural and décor styles of your kitchen. Minimalist styled seating should be bought for a modern kitchen. A combination of metal and wood will be very suitable for a traditional kitchen. However, old-styled kitchens will look good with vintage wooden chairs.
